Results from 1/8

Well I am still dealing with laptop problems, but I managed to get in some play yesterday. It was only 747 hands, but I did up my winning streak to 7 straight days while winning at a 2.7bb/100 clip for a total profit (including bonus) of $132. I am really starting to feel like I am getting on a roll, and I can play my game without looking at the chart anymore. My confidence is very high, and the bad beats are just glancing blows now.

But now I thought I would ask a question. If you have a goal(s) for 2006 (poker related), what are they? You all know mine, I thought it would be good for you to share yours.

Jan 1 bankroll - $5252
Jan 9 bankroll - $5707
Profit - $455
Feb 1 goal - $9000

Hey Bill,

My goal is just getting a real bankroll going. I have never really had one. I would just deposit $50...loose it & deposit again. I would like to get a BR that will last me for a while & hopefully get me started to goals like yours (Bill) eventually. :)

I've started, & currently grinding it out.

What games do you play Ben? When I first started it was real tough playing .05/.10 but it needed to be done. Even though my bankroll is enough to sustain playing 5/10, I am forcing myself to go up the ranks slower. I will tell you that patience is the key (you know that), and with solid poker the bankroll will increase. Good luck!!!

I currently play .10/.25 NL ring game.
I currently have around $150 bankroll. I have taken a few stabs at Limit, but never feel good about my "limit" play.
Do you think Im playing to high?

Yes I believe you are playing too high. I know most people do not like to hear that though. The recommendations that I have heard and follow for NL is 30 max buyins. So for you case you should have a bankroll of $750. If/when I dropped to 20 max buyins at a level I would move down again. I hope that helps.

Wow, I didn't think I was playing that high for my BR. But what you said makes sence, there is always going to be the varience that you have to be able to withstand. Thanks for the tips.

Hi Bill:

If you have an IT dept....I would imagine you should be able to score a new computer. Which, btw, makes me curious about how you have time to play so much? Early retirement? Independantly wealthy?
Business owner with good management team?

Anyway, my goals are similar to yours. Build my bankroll and continue moving up in limits.

Started with $10 on UB....up to $370 in 3 weeks. Playing .50/1.00 now and will move up according to the 300X BB rule. I

I also fund entries into satellites with my winnings...attempting to win entries to big sunday tournys, WSOP, etc.

I also intend to get pokertracker and to read more to improve my game, because as I move up, the competition improves dramatically, as I'm sure you know.

I will not chase!

I will not chase!

I will not chase!

(New Year's resolution)

GL at the tables.

Brett,

Well I am not independently wealthy, but you will not hear me complain about money. I am actually a sales manager for IBM. It is good that you are getting pokertracker, it is well worth the investment. I laugh when you say the competition moves up dramatically, because people who I trust have told me time and time again that there are fish at every limit, some fish just like to swim in a bigger tank. At the 3/6 level there is a ton, and at the 5/10 level there is alot as well. There is one guy who I have played several times on the 3/6 tables. I believe I have only seen him win once. In fact (looking at poker tracker) this guy has played 297 hands at my table and has lost $443 in that time. His VP$IP is at 52%, his went to show down is at 47% and his preflop raise is 1%. I look for him every time I play. So the good news is when you move up limits you will still find some good games.

Hey Bill; great roll.

My 2006 goal is to win a trip somewhere warm. It's cold here in Canada.

I hope you don't mind a plug here.

Ben and Badkarma might want to look at

Poker Source Online - http://www.pokersourceonline.com/pso.asp?rc=omen
Instant Bankroll - http://www.instantbankroll.com/ib.asp?rc=omen

Instant bankroll is a one time chance of $75 for free on either Party poker or Titan. Pokersourceonline are prizes for new signups to sites in addition to the site bonuses.

I did Party and it was great. A promo like this or rakeback really pays dividends. Rakeback tends to be better because you can stay at one site if you really like it.

No I don't mind a shameless plug or two, some people just don't have all the experiences that we have had yet. Of course if they join pokerfox.net (shameless plug), then they can avail themselves of the rakeback options that they have as well.

I had a case of Tech blues as well. I"m on a mac and my Virtual PC stopped seeing the internet. So no chance to play UB on Sunday night. I hope to get all that back up and running soon. Until then I'll have to play pokerroom.com. (Very Mac friendly).

The other day you asked why I left when I won 2 hands and got ahead. All my answers to that are going to sound crazy but here goes.
Playing NoLimit 1-2 10 seat sitting down with $100

1) The reason I was down for the night was because I was putting way too much money on the table on hands that were not yet made. They would have a very high % to win but I was not winning when I put the money out there. This was likely the case with the $200 pot as well. I had AK clubs. I flopped having the 2 over cards, a gut shot nut Straight draw and 4 to the nut flush. Should I have been willing to put my $100 down on that flop? He bet $25 at me and I pushed my stack at him.... So I felt that was a luck win for me...
2) I was down considerably, more than I typically like to be on a single night of playing. So I figured I was certainly not playing my A game. To be ahead was a gift. Take the money and run.
3) Here is a good reason, it was getting late.

I'll wait for you 1/9 post to update you on my 1/9 results. I didn't play on 1/8

GL, 85
