AAAAAAAAAArgggggghhhhh!!!! - Results from 1/11

Man am I upset. I played like a moron yesterday and boy did it cost me. I was chasing nut flushes and open ended straight draws the entire night and I don't think I hit one once. I cannot afford to keep going backwards unless I change this race to 10k (which won't happen). Overall I lost $237. I am not even going to try and validate that loss. Today I start over and I will post a victory. I am keeping this one short because I am sick of wallowing in the negativity. Today we look to the horizon and I see me hitting 6k before the weekend is out.

Jan 1 bankroll - $5252
Jan 11 bankroll - $5522
Profit - $270
Feb 1 goal - $9000

I'm glad Im not the only one, who has been playing off their "A Game". This whole week has been a constant fluctuation for me. I've been playing unfocused, & I've let my starting hands become less & less a factor. That only spells a recipe for disaster & I know it, just some how, ever now & then I get myslef into these slumps. If I can figure out how to avoid loosing very much in these slumps I would be ok, but its a work in progress.

Sorry for the rant, but I feel exactly like you do Bill "AAAAAArrrrggggghhhhh!!!

No way can you go straight up with the stack. It's just not that easy. I'm sure you will get back on track.

I fought with my Virtual PC for awhile. When I finally figured it out it was a very simple fix. So I got back to my UB stack last night around 11.
I had 2 monster flops and action to match.
Pocket A's vs Pocket Q's. A hit the board on the flop and I cleaned him out.
Flopped set of 3's vs an obvious AK or something along that line. Cleaned out another guy.
So I started with $50 and ended up at $157ish. It was a quick session because I started so late.
I threw my tiny PokerRoom stack into the mix as I'll continue to work that one too. $24.81

I have my journal rolling again so I can keep track more easily.

Starting Total Stack : $300
Yesterday's Total Stack: 324
Current Total Stack: $455

Monthly Goal: $500
Yearly Goal: $6000

I'm willing to adjust my goals as I go along. (I can only hope to be higher).
I can say that being held accountable in this race has kept me focused thus far. I haven't played much lately. We will see if it continues.

I will tell you that pokerfox.net has a couple of recent articles that deals with the situation that Ben was describing. It talks about the different levels of brain activity and how it relates to poker. Interesting stuff.

It is also good to see that 85 got his virtual pc running so he can play. I look forward to racing with you. Something tells me you may get there first though ;-).

I can only hope to get anywhere near $6000.
I think I made about $1000 last year.
I've never won more than $600 in any 2 day period.
I've never made more than a few bucks in a big multi table tourney.
So unless I bump up limits along the way and somehow manage to handle the psychology of the Bigger stacks moving across the table.....
I think it's still likely I could bust out. As I'm probably playing too big of stakes for my stack.
If I do bust, I'll try it again playing the "right" limits.

Bill, you know these fluctuations are going to happen. Just be glad you weren't playing NL or it could have been worse. ;)

I was not on my "A Game" last night either. After being up $60 or so, I managed to donk off $85 with AQ. It was probably one of the dumber moves I've made and I was so tired I shouldn't have been playing. Ended up the night -$30.

Jan 1 bankroll - $496.83
Jan 11 bankroll - $1,201.69
Profit - $704.86

Goal - The only goal I have is to get a Plasma TV and leave enough for a nice Bankroll. I'm thinking $4000 - $5000 for the TV and at have at least $1500 in my Bankroll, so I'm going for a goal of $6000 and I'd like to get at least $1000/month.
So my Feb 1 Goal would be - $1500

Hey Bill,

I'm going through the same thing. Just recovered last months losses and starting another downswing. Hang in there it will turn around again.
